Frequently Asked Questions
Do I (the parent) need to be present?
Yes. We are a cooperative group that relies on the help of participating families. You need to be present in the building when your student is here. We understand emergencies and other unexpected issues arise (due to illness or a doctor appointment, for example), but the goal is to be at co-op every week.
Does my student need to take every class?
No. Your teen can take 1 or all of the classes. Every class focuses on critical thinking skills, life skills, and/or life application. All classes are meant to compliment your at-home curriculum and not overwhelm your schedule with homework. However, if you ever need to adjust your workload, the teachers will happily work with you.
How much will this cost?
Each family pays a registration fee of $75 per family per semester. Each class has a separate fee that ranges from $30-$100 per semester. Lastly, each participating adult is required to complete a background check (about $25).
We are an official non-profit with the state of Florida and our federal non-profit status is in-process/ pending. We can provide you with a detailed receipt for you to file for state reimbursement, but, like all other educational services, cannot guarantee reimbursement. If you need this detailed receipt, please ask us at registration.
If you are experiencing hardship, please reach out to us.
What are my volunteer responsibilities for Mosaic?
Your volunteer responsibilities will be about 1-2 hours per week while at co-op. It will be the same position each week. The volunteer positions are: classroom helper, check-in/out/door monitor, hall monitor, substitute (for any absent volunteer position), volunteer coordinator, clean up (for Art, Cooking, or at the end of the day), or Float. If you are only present for 1 hour, you will only volunteer for that hour. You will have an opportunity to sign up for a position at the in-person info/registration meeting in August and January.
What do I do while I wait on my child?
All families are expected to remain in the downstairs fellowship hall while at co-op (unless performing your volunteer duties). You are free to bring work with you, homeschool younger students, pay the bills, write a poem, or whatever your heart desires. There is wi-fi available. When students are not in class, they should be in the fellowship hall as well.
What about bad weather?
We will follow the lead of the local school district as well as the decision of the church that hosts the co-op: if they cancel, so will we. We understand if you need to make a different decision. Safety is priority. We will get word out to you asap, and usually via a text thread.
